My surprise road trip.

My surprise road trip.
This year one night before my birthday my son came to me and told me to pack my bag with clothes and other things needed for two days . I asked him where are we going but he kept it a secret. So the next day we left early in the morning. It was very pleasant clean and fresh and our moods were as fresh as flowers. We were just talking and laughing and my son was driving. Although the city roads were also lonely in the morning but as soon as we entered the hilly area towards malshez ghats the weather surprisingly started changing. A fresh clean breeze started and an amazing view of the pristine hills mesmerised us.  There was amazing scenery all around. No person who has not visited and seen the out skirts of mumbai can imagine the hidden beauty here. Lush green mountains overhead on the road and deep down the green valley hypnotize you with its unparallelled beauty. There were no waterfalls though in the late september but all around it was very beautiful.
After crossing Malshez ghats we went to Shivnery fort. You can not see Shivneri fort properly untill you go very near to it. It is so much hidden in mountains and can not be located so easity if not for the signs and arrows on the road. This fort is the birthplace of our great chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As you go near you are awed by the hugeness and beauty of the fort. We climbed it, went to Shivai goddess temple also. Whole atmosphere is very serene and beautiful. You need a full day to spend at this place which makes you feel as if you are not only climbing and watching the beauty but also meditating. Such is the grace of this place.
From here we went to Lenyadri caves. They are around thirty Budhhist caves bestowing the travellers with serenity and beauty simultaneously. You feel as if you belong here. You dont want to leave this place.
From here we went to Vighneswer Ashtvinayak Ganesh temple. This is though not a very big temple but holds great importance. First it is considered as one of Ganeshji's eight avtatars. And is known as ashtavinayak. It is by the side of huge lake and a very big bridge. We stayed here for the night in a beautiful small hotel 'Arya Regency'. We had a good view of temple and lake from there. Next day we started for Bheema Shanker temple. We passed through Bheemasharker wlid life centuary which is on the top of mountain. From here the scenic beauty all around is beyond words. You feel on cloud nine with evrything else below you. I was so spell bound that I wished I had a small cottage here at this place  to spend rest of my life. Oh such lush green hills covered with yellow coloured flowers at times made me remember Wordswoth's poem "Daffodils". Reaching Bheemashanker was very tiring as the road also had deep ditches at places but the scenic beauty made us forget everything. For temple we had to go down more than 100 or 150 steps. But it was worth it. The temple is very old but still stong and attracts loads of devotees. Its one of 12 jyotirlingas. Inside also very beautiful. We enjoyed the trip to the full. I am still feeling as if i am in those hills, in the temple, climbing the fort with excitement and also watching the Lenyadri caves. Oh its unforgettable really.
